Barreirinhas is a municipality in the state of Maranhão, No brazil. The municipality is known for being the “Gateway” of the tourist region known as Lençóis Maranhenses, which consists of a vast area of ​​high white sand dunes and lakes and lagoons, also known as “Brazilian Desert”. It has a population of 62.458 inhabitants in 2017 .
